Przemek joined Torus a few months ago, in order to support the company at the management and operational levels. At the end of March 2023, became an official member of the board of directors (as deputy chairman), whilst assuming the position of Chief Operations Officer (COO). Arm in arm with a long-standing Torus’ CEO, Sławomir Gajewski, he will realize a long-term developmental vision of the company, whose objective is to increase the investment activity, as well as the diversification of business. His emergence in Torus constitutes the first step of business succession, prepared thoroughly by the company owners for a long time.
Przemysław Ryś was born in Poznań, and was related to the city throughout his entire professional life – moving with his family to the Tricity upon receiving a proposal to assume a new position in Torus. He graduated from the Faculty of Social Sciences at Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań, also completing post-graduate studies in controlling at Wyższa Szkoła Bankowa.
Throughout his entire professional career, he was tied to the sales area. For over 8 years, he was working in Smurfit Kappa, a world leading company within the paper packaging industry. He was held accountable, among others, for relations with clients in the framework of global contracts conducted by the Polish subsidiary. Ultimately, as a sales director, he managed a 50-people-strong team. Before, he had been professionally related to Exide Technologies, a leader in battery production, where he forged relations with key accounts. He also boasts experience on the trade-linked position in an IT company.
At Torus, alongside the official external representation of the company, he will hold responsibility for the effective day-to-day functioning of the firm. He will be engaged in multiple areas – strategy and development, budgeting, purchasing, leasing, communication, employee-related matters, and ESG, among many others. His role will also embrace the ongoing supervision and optimisation of operations of particular departments.
As a manager, he appreciates open communication, which in his opinion, facilitates cooperation and business development. He is eager to surround himself with people who boast greater specialist and expert knowledge in a particular domain, knowing how to tap into their experience. He likes to have a sense of influence, and take on responsibility, both in the designing dimension, as well as strategic. However, he draws the greatest satisfaction observing development and successes of his employees, and the fact he can contribute to it. He is inspired by success stories of other people – he takes a good look at them while searching for good practices which he could apply himself in the management area.
